Where do you park on your airline trip when it's snowing?

OK- you found a great deal on airfare and you are ready to fly. All packed, boarding pass printed (you DO print those at home, right? Only about 40% of travelers do!), car loaded up... and it's snowing! Dang it- I HATE when that happens!

You have a couple choices:
1- drive to the airport, park in the garage (if it isn't already FULL) and pay $18 /day. If you are lucky-enough, you can get a spot away from the walls where the snow blows in anyway.

2- park off-airport. You'll save time (no looking around for a spot - most lots direct you to an open space) and you'll save money. OFF-airport lots are typically less expensive than on-airport lots. In Denver we have an on-airport lot operated by a vendor. They PITCH themselves as off-airport but in reality they are on airport property and pay a lease payment monthly to DIA... and charge even MORE that the airport's "economy" lots.

And if you REALLY want first-class service... try VALET. The lot will park your car for you, and when you return you can have the car warmed up for you on a cold day - or cooled down on a hot day. It's $27/day at the airport... guess what? It's LESS at an off-airport lot!

USAirport Parking has NOT moved, and is NOT at 8100 Tower Road! But our address is actually 18000 E. 81st Avenue. Same great service, same great pricing- better address!

In the early days (you know, horses, tumbleweeds, buggies and wagons) GPS providers did not have any data near the airport- and someone said, "I put in 8100 Tower Rd and the GPS showed your corner." And that's what people did for a long time.

Well, now there is another business out near that same corner and guess what address they chose? Of course! So I've been calling, emailing and working with the major data providers to get the GPS databases corrected to the proper address.

And for you VENDORS out there, I doubt that anyone at the new address will be paying our invoices- so PLEASE change our billing address to 18000 E. 81st Ave. Thanks!

Why donate food now?

Charities typically receive a flood of donations during the holiday season, but interest in charitable giving of all types typically wanes after the holidays. However, hunger is a year-round problem, and it's more helpful to the Food Bank to receive a steady flow of donations (Imagine the problems it would create in your home if you went grocery shopping once a year!). If you donate food now, you'll be helping Food Bank of the Rockies employees and over 1,000 volunteers to assist needy families in an effective manner. Construction at DIA? Now way, it's too new! But wait- it IS an airport, and I have rarely seen an airport that was NOT under SOME type of construction! And DIA is no exception anymore...

Look at the projects:
*Pena inbound, they're digging up concrete and re-pouring, the week of Thanksgiving!
*Pena outbound, where rental car row merges in...
*And don't forget about the Denver cops with their radar guns...

What does all this mean? DELAYS for you and me.

Solution?

For those of us at USAirport Parking for DIA, It's been 12 great years serving thousands of customers every day. Yet the one issue I hear every month is "When are you getting a stoplight at 81st & Tower? It's so hard to get out on the road." You asked, we listened and NOW the city has made your dreams come true: a shiny new traffic light is installed and working (I know, hard to believe it works, right?!) at 81st ave & Tower Rd!

This morning I came in from the South, stopped in the left turn lane and about 10 seconds later I had a Green Arrow- that's the fastest I have EVER been able to turn onto 81st ave! And just a heads' up: there is no longer a merge lane as you turn North onto 81st ave- but with the light, it is no longer necessary...

So next time you are going to DIA, exit at Tower Rd and experience the new light... if you LIKE IT, then we are glad we came through for you. But if you don't like it, you can blame Canopy Airport Parking (formerly GreenPark DIA) because THEY had to pay for it!

How GREEN is your parking lot?

And who the heck cares? Well, WE do!

Much has been written and posted lately about a new "green" parking lot coming to the Denver airport area. But really now, how green is YOUR parking lot, anyway? Give US a try.

USAirport Parking has owned the Red White & Blue motif for over 12 years, and in the last few we have worked hard to be as "green" as we can. We recycle all but the stinkiest trash; we use sand and not chemicals on our ice & snow and reclaim it for future use; we clean our buses with water, not soap; our buses run on clean diesel (I know- an oxymoron- right?) to save on fuel and reduce airborne emissions and last longer before they need to be replaced; we planted trees all along our fence-line and inside the spaces as well; our lighting features low-power energy-efficient lamps with induction lighting test going on right now; we've found a recycling program for fluorescent lights... the list goes on and on. Things we haven't done are merely expensive and serve only to increase your prices at the parking lot!

And here's a big one- when we park 14 cars and shuttle those folks to and from DIA, that reduces their trip by over 16 miles, saving them fuel, money and emissions from their own cars. And they can get off Pena sooner and accumulate less mag-chloride that the city sprays on the road (even when the temp is 40+!).

A famous frog said "it's not easy being green" and you know what? He was right!

What a pain it is to fly into Denver DIA, ride a shuttle to car rental row, wait in line to get whatever car they have, especially in ski season, and pay WAY more than you should have to for the privilege. Well, I want to be sure you know that you have a choice. Ever heard of off-airport parking?

Companies like mine exist to serve customers who cannot get what they need/want from the airport lots themselves, like long-term annual parking rates. There is no reason to pay full rack rate to leave a car at the airport for the times when you and your family, or your friends come to stay at your property. That's where WE come in.

Isn't airport parking a pain in the you-know-what?

Airport Parking has to be one of the most painful experiences---well, maybe second only to a colonoscopy!

I drive all the way to the airport (of course, there are no signs to direct me to any parking NOT at the airport!) and see 4 big red FULL signs before I even get off the access road. And then when I do get to the shuttle lot- the darned thing is closed (what's up with that?!) and I have to then drive another 10-15 minutes to get to ANOTHER shuttle lot that's almost in Kansas.

Now, after all that, I get to the airport about 25-30 minutes late and they won't check my bag because I'm too late. UGH! I want to SCREEEEEEEEAM!

Well, here's a BETTER option:

Exit Pena Blvd at Tower Road and go north about 1/4 mile to USAirport Parking. Allow about 10 extra minutes and we'll direct you to an open spot, give you a locator slip so the driver can find your car upon returning, and load your luggage on the bus. We'll drop you of at curbside check-in for your airline and you are on the way to security. (Be SURE you check-in on-line and print your boarding pass. You save a lot of time, don't wait at the counter and if your airline charges for bags, you often will get a discount for checking your bags on-line too!).

When you arrive home we pick you up at baggage claim (Island 3!) and drop you off at your car and place your bags in the trunk if you wish. You won't be wandering around a lot looking for your car after being dropped at a bus stop (very convenient for the airport shuttle drivers, not so much for you, the passenger!). And when you exit the lot you will see the rates are less that the airport garage or their "economy" lot. And with a coupon or discount card your rates are less that airport shuttle parking as well!

So, see the difference? It doesn't take a PhD to understand why off-airport parking $AVES you time and money. Give it a try- in fact, here's a coupon for your next stay!
